Fiftieth Street Church of Christ

Our History

Fiftieth Street Church of Christ has a rich history that began in 1987 when a faithful group of sixteen brothers and sisters initiated our congregation under the leadership of Brother Curtis Coleman, Sr. With dedication and love, they gathered for worship in various locations, including the chapel of Sexton Hall Mortuary and Forsyth Park.

Over the years, we have experienced tremendous growth and transformation. Under the guidance of several devoted ministers, including Brother Jessie Drayton and Brother Linnie L. Darden, III, we moved to our current location at 734 East 50th Street in 2000. Our congregation, now known as Fiftieth Street Church of Christ, has baptized over 300 souls since 1991, a testament to our commitment to spreading the gospel.

The 50th Street Church of Christ has been heavily involved with community benevolence. The distribution of hygienical supplies, distributing clothing, including coats, t- shirts, socks, underwear and winter coats for the homeless. Also nursing home visitations have been a part of our regular benevolent and humanitarian activity. We regularly distribute Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets each year. 50th Street Church of Christ also has also provided hurricane relief to churches in the Caribbean Islands.

Our Mission
At Fiftieth Street Church of Christ, our mission is to glorify God through worship, service, and fellowship. We strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone can grow spiritually and find support in their faith journey.
